If you open up any search engine (Google, Yahoo, Bing, MSN, Ask, or any of the other dozens of them), and type in the word wedding, you will come up with more information, web sites, services, etc. than you could possibly ever read in your lifetime. No doubt the market for all things weddings is huge, but so is the plethora of available product and service providers competing for that market.
So weddings are a big deal, not only to those getting married, but to those who serve that market as well. In fact, the international wedding industry (if that’s a correct reference), probably contains one of the largest groups of employees in existence. Consider the number of employees that must be involved in just the following:
- wedding dress designers
- wedding gowns
- wedding songs
- wedding favors
- wedding décor
- wedding registry
- wedding invitations
- wedding response cards
- wedding thank you cards
- bridal shower invitations
- bridesmaid dresses
- groomsmen attire
- wedding night
- wedding caterers
- wedding cakes
- wedding themes
- wedding rings
- engagement rings
- wedding insurance
Then think about all the motel rooms booked, flights made, alcohol consumed, flowers bought, and it’s almost endless. Should people stop getting married the impact on the economy would be devastating, to say the least.
I don’t know that there is any importance in learning all that, but it’s somewhat interesting to consider. A lot of families depend on people continuing to get married, and I’m sure they will (some of them multiple times). I have a girlfriend who has been married three times, and another friend who is almost like a second mother to me who has been married six times. The sixth one stuck, all the way to the end for both of them, about fifty years.
If you are planning on getting married there are many details that need to be taken care of. It would be wise to pick up a wedding planning book or guide. A good one will cost you around $30, but its well worth it. It will not only help you be sure to cover all the important details, it will also have suggestions and ideas that can greatly enhance that special day.
It becomes another keepsake item that you’ll enjoy browsing through over the years.
Weddings, what a huge deal! It’s the livelihood of many people, therefore extremely important to many people all over the world. But the people who are always the ones most impacted by it are the bride and groom, especially the bride. A lot of men would just as soon find a preacher and be done with it quickly and painlessly. However, when they’re getting married, and they know how important it is to that special lady they’re marrying, it becomes important to them too.
When two people are madly in love, what’s important to one becomes very important to the other. It’s called love, and that’s what a wedding is all about.
